Besides sport and television appearances, Capes was famed for breeding budgerigars and experienced achievements (a former entire world winner[9]) to the show bench with his Recessive Pieds. He participated in budgerigar exhibits throughout Europe and won a planet championship in 1995. In 2008, he was appointed president in the Budgerigar Society an
